KENSIEGIRL FOOTWEAR SHOWROOM

A Showroom Design for a Trendy Footwear Brand

The design of the new Kensiegirl Showroom in midtown Manhattan (New York) attempts to personify the chic, evocative and whimsical style of the brand. Kensiegirl line of clothing and shoes is fresh and modern with several vintage influences.

The Front Desk is a Tribute to the Memphis and Alchimia Design Movement

A Tribute to Memphis and Alchimia Design Groups

The plexi front desk in the reception area is a homage to the Milan based avant-garde experimental design group Alchimia founded by Alessandro Mendini in 1976. The pink fluorescent fixture is instead reminiscent of a Dan Flavin installation. The light and the plexiglass desk both give the space a touch of energy that plays well with the image of the brand. References to art and design are frequent in the work of Sergio Mannino Studio. Mannino studied architecture in Florence Italy and graduated in Milan with a thesis developed under the direction of Ettore Sottsass, undiscussed guru of the international design world for more than four decades.

Mass Customization Design Elements

While utilizing the latest digital technologies, Mannino Studio defines the spirit of our times through mass customization of wallpapers, decals and laser-cut furniture. Through everyday fluorescent fixtures turned pink, digitally fabricated lamp shades and a display system reminiscent of 70s minimal art, the Studio was able to transform the showroom into a modern mental gymnasium of design, pattern and color, while at the same time complimenting the Kensiegirl brand.
